When I think about the time invested into Bo’s program I think about where I was, to where I am, to where I’m going. I was introduced to the program through a friend and was invited to one of the classroom sessions. At that time, I was immediately taken back by the amount of baseball knowledge, wisdom, planning and energy that was being invested into the young men on the team. I saw this as a opportunity to develop myself beyond a baseball player. My biggest fear at that time was wasting my potential. My parents instilled in me that I would be able to accomplish great things in my life. As far as what to do and how to accomplish those goals, was inconclusive in my eyes.

Bo helped me create a path from where I was to where I wanted to be. He was also more than willing to walk that path with me. He helped me realize that if I remain passionate, focused and managed myself accordingly I could accomplish my goals.

This program also surrounded me with liked-minded individuals with a strong staff of not just coaches, but mentors as well.

Bo’s program is valuable, because it allowed me to use sports as a gateway to education, because if you can change a way a person thinks you can change their lives.

Shirley Cossey

My two sons participated in Bo Porter’s programs from 2004 until 2011, first with the Future All-Stars, then later with the Texas Hawkeyes. As a mother of teenage sons, I wanted only opportunities that exposed them to positive influences. Their relationship with Bo continues to this day.

Bo, thru his baseball program, provided my sons with life skills that have been instrumental as they transitioned to adulthood. They were expected to not only model fitness, team effort and fair play, but also realize the value of education, respectfulness, confidence, hard work and perseverance. These qualities when practiced on the baseball field, flowed over to other aspects of their lives.

After one year of being in the program, I admit that my sons had joined to play baseball, but remained for many other reasons. My sons were not only learning how to win at the game of baseball, but a much more important lesson, and that was “what it takes to WIN at the game of life.”

I would recommend that any parent looking to place their son in a high quality program seriously consider Bo Porter’s program. Bo Porter is a man of extraordinary integrity. The benefits gained are endless.

I had the honor of playing for Bo Porter all through out my high school years. His coaching style was different than anything I had experienced. It was due to his personal interest in each of his players. He took the time to know us and to mentor us.

He held us accountable and instilled in us the importance of a strong work ethic, respect for ourselves and others and to always know “where we were going or we might end up where we don’t want to be.”

Joshua LeBlanc

The fall of 1997, I met a man that started out as my coach, but would later become a mentor and close friend. He would teach me things through the game of baseball that would help shape me into the man I am today. This man was Bo Porter. I learned quickly that baseball was a passion of Bo’s, but philanthropy was equally as important. Bo was able to draw so many parallels from the sport of baseball to everyday life. Many lessons that I still carry with me to this day like, “Life is like a bank account, you get out of it what you put into it. So if you come up short there is only one person to point the finger at, and that is you.” Bo’s tutelage has taught me that there is a formula to success. It is, hours of hard work, tons of sacrifice, diligence, and you have to have a strong foundation of family and faith. With that blueprint I have been able to go from that little scrawny and raw overlooked kid, to a college graduate, a 2004 sixth round selection of the LA Angels of Anaheim, obtain my MBA, and now a financial coach and a mentor to the youth in my community. Thank you Bo for allowing me to see what you saw in me all those years ago. You have left an imprint on me that has helped me achieve feats that I never thought were possible. Your intellect and altruism are a huge part of the reason why I am who I am today.

Laurie Nicolai

My son participated in Bo Porter’s baseball program from the age of 14 to 18. Undeniably a very important and formative time in his life.

Without a doubt his baseball program was unlike any we had seen or heard of before. Just by watching the practices alone you could see they were on a very different level of dedication and attention to detail. Trey not only learned the mechanics of baseball but the underlying strategy of the coach’s decisions. His knowledge of baseball is far superior than most due to the teachings of Bo and his staff.

However, there were far more important benefits he acquired which he can use for a lifetime off the field. The words that come to mind are commitment, critical thinking skills, time management, and a desire to challenge himself to reach his goals. He spent time around Bo who demonstrated a healthy lifestyle and a strong commitment to faith and family.

Besides their children’s attitudes focusing on their future they can expect to hear often…..”Well, Bo says this (fill in the blank) and Bo says that (fill in the blank) which will be a repeating of uplifting, goal oriented quotes and which by the way he can still repeat 10 years later. I am forever thankful that Bo and his program were part of Trey’s upbringing and believe he is a better man for it.

I strongly suggest and recommend Bo Porter and his program to any parent.

Both of my sons worked under the baseball tutelage of Coach Bo. Being a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, developing my sons into successful young men is of utmost important to me.

Coach Bo shares that sentiment and has always combined his “best-in-class” baseball knowledge with his top shelf knowledge of what it takes to be a successful young man in and outside of baseball including leadership training, discipline, life coaching when they have run into problems and what does it mean to be a “professional” just to name a few.

Many of you who have raised successful young men know that it take a village to do that and having Coach Bo involved in my sons’ lives has been a life time blessing.

I had the blessing of meet Bo and Stacy shortly after my thirteenth birthday. He asked me to join an organization called the “Texas Hawkeyes” and it wasn’t long after joining his program that I found myself moved by his every word. When I first met Bo I looked up to him as a coach and a former big leaguer but it didn’t take long for me to begin to look up to him as a second father.

While the immediate understanding of the lessons learned from the Porter family and their program have a direct affiliation with the game of baseball, it wasn’t until after my athletic career that I fully understood how the program changed my everyday decision-making. To say it simply, he has a personable approach that maximizes the potential of individuals.

I had the blessing to have played collegiate baseball. Throughout my journey I’ve had the opportunity to meet many different coaches with many different styles. Bo has bar none been the best instruction I’ve received. He understands being a truly effective coach means more than maximizing ones abilities; it means you must maximize the individual.

The presence he carries is rare in this world. It instills the belief and drive to better oneself. This presence drives us to maximize our abilities as individuals followed with maximizing the ability of individuals around us – true synergy. It’s as if he grabs a hold of you and shoves you and as soon as you have the opportunity to catch your footing to digest your direction, you realize he has given you the proper momentum needed to embark down the road of success.

The program builds character, enhances decision-making, creates self-awareness, with its leader truly embodying the latter by being its living example.

It’s incredible to see how much Stacy and he have achieved since first meeting them eleven years ago. I can boast with confidence when I say this world is a better place because of who he inspires, what he has achieved, and what he stands for. I’m a better man standing here today because of the guidance and lessons he has taught me over the years and couldn’t be more fortunate to have had such an impactful role model throughout my development as a man. God bless the Porters!

My involvement with Bo Porter’s programs began when I was 12 years old. I am now 26 years old and still regularly draw on the experiences and lessons that I learned through Bo’s structured curriculum. I think the best way for me to explain the impact that Bo and his management team have had on my life is to share my experience.

When I first started working with Bo and his baseball staff, I was an unorganized and distracted teenager. My grades were not good. I had a C average and had very little interest in school. Over the next few years, I not only developed a high level of skill on the baseball diamond, but I also began to fill the gaps that were holding me back from achieving success in other areas. Bo holds classroom sessions each week where he teaches the importance of communication skills and having the right attitude. Bo also requires his players to create challenging goals and he monitors the progress of each player towards those goals until they are realized.

My long term goal was to get into the University of Texas. Bo pushed me to work hard and commit to this goal. By the time I graduated high school, I had all A’s on my report card and got into UT. Once I was at UT, I sat down with Bo and made a new goal. I wanted to be in the McCombs Business School. Using the same strategies and mindset that I developed in Bo’s courses, I was able to achieve this goal. Upon, graduation, much to my surprise, I received a phone call from Bo and he asked, “What’s next?” I remember kind of laughing and thinking “aren’t I done with this goal thing?” What I have come to find out is that you are really never done with Bo’s programs and will use his lessons for the rest of your life. Bo and his staff are invested in your continuous success and will always be there to lean on. So we sat down again…. I told Bo that I wanted to work at one of the top 10 fortune 500 companies because they are known for the best finance training programs. Over the next few weeks, Bo and I worked together to build my interview skills and worked to position me to perform in front of a panel of executives. After several long interviews, I was hired into the General Electric Financial Leadership Program, where I work today as a financial analyst.

Looking back, it was really important for me to know that someone had confidence in me and took the time to continuously push me towards my goals. Bo and his staff are committed to developing responsible student athletes with vision, drive, and confidence. They are experts at teaching the necessities to succeed in all aspects of life. The skills that you will learn through Bo’s programs are truly invaluable.
